"My Journey with Carma: A Memoir of Beginnings and Legacy
As I reflect on my professional journey, I am reminded of the pivotal role Carma played in shaping my career. It was the post-mutiny era in Delhi, and organized retail was still in its infancy. Amidst this landscape, Carma emerged under the visionary leadership of Lekha Poddar, a renowned art and textile guru.
I joined Carma in its second season, sharing space with the talented Geetanjali Kashyup. Little did I know that this marked the beginning of an extraordinary journey. Soon, I found myself in the presence of legends, engaging in one-on-one interactions with icons like Kumar Mangalam Birla, Rekha, Nita Ambani, Lynn Rothschild, and Diane von Fürstenberg, to name a few.
One of my most cherished memories was shooting a documentary with the BBC at Carma, where my friend Nandita Mahtani graciously modelled my plissé sari on the rooftop. The memories I've made at Carma are countless – of my youth, my beginnings, and the relationships I forged with clients, friends, and peers who became like family.
Carma was more than just a platform; it was an incubator for creativity, innovation, and growth. As I look back, I am filled with gratitude for the experiences, lessons, and connections that have stayed with me throughout my journey."
